Stephen trained in Fine Art gaining a BA (hons) from Newcastle upon Tyne University. Since that time he has continued to pursue his passion for painting and has worked as a professional artist since 2004. Although experienced in working in oils and in pastel, he has, in recent years, worked purely in watercolour enjoying the freedom and flexibility that the medium offers. His artwork, greetings cards and other gift items are stocked by a number of outlets in the north of England including The North East Arts Collective Gallery in central Newcastle and Durham University Gift Shop .
Stephen has exhibited his work at the Royal Cambrian Academy and was a prize winner at the South Tyneside Open Exhibition in addition to taking part in numerous group and solo exhibitions. He has also undertaken commissioned work for the TUC, HM The Queen's Lord Lieutenant for Tyne and Wear and for many private clients. Stephen's watercolours have been presented to a former Prime Minister and also to former Durham University Chancellor and best-selling author Bill Bryson.
