Gala Day

A bustling scene from Durham Miner's Gala also known as the Big Meeting which shows the procession of brass bands and banners at Old Elvet, Durham. The famous County Hotel where guest speakers,union officials and others watch and applaud the procession can be seen to the right of the picture. The event takes place every July and is a focal point of the Durham calendar.
